Apabila kita dengki dan sakit hati Allah akan tambah lagi kedengkian dan sakit hati kita dengan penyakit hati yang lain seperti takbur, riak sombong dsb hingga ia akan memadamkan segala nikmat-nikmat kita di dunia.
Kata imam syafie, angkatlah 4 takbir (solat jenazah) kepada orang yang tidak mahu belajar, mendengar atau tidak suka langsung dengan majlis ilmu kerana hatinya mati. Apatah lagi kepada orang-orang yang menyekat majlis-majlis ilmu.
Celakalah orang-orang yang tidak dihidupkan ilmu dan Al Quran di rumahnya kerana yang demikian rumahnya mati kosong .
Selain dari manusia yang hadir, maka malaikat turut hadir di dalam majlis ilmu. Sabda Rasulullah s.a.w.’Sesiapa yang Allah hendak beri kebaikan kepadanya, maka Allah akan beri faham agama kepadanya.
Kata Imam Ghazali, punca orang-orang menjadi takbur dan sombong adalah:

3. Amal (bukanlah amalan yang membawa kita ke syurga, tetapi rahmat Allah)
